Celebrating Reconciliation week with our Children & Families  2023.

Our Hebel Sculptures are complete. What a creative bunch of families we have, big thanks to Bill from the Mens Shed Lorne who helped by cutting the hebel into manageable pieces. Each piece of hebel tells its own story and represents each individual family. We had so much fun completing them and can't wait to have them installed during 2023. Well done team they look fantastic.

2022

Over the past year I have been thinking of ways to beautify our front entry point and involve our families in leaving behind an  everlasting memento of their time at the Lorne Kinder. You may have observed the Bricks that divide off our soft fall      (this is a project from another year) Of course the Covid-19 pandemic has meant that families were unable to share our wonderful learning space with the children & educators for such a long time. However now that families are permitted back in our space. I am hoping to get this project off the ground during term 3/4 2022. I thought it would be fantastic if we could make something similar to a project Airey's Inlets families have been completing over the years. Each family carving a sculpture, pictures, names etc onto a block of 'Hebel'. We would then collate these blocks into a totem and incorporate them into the garden. I feel that beatifying the space with a Tree, Plants & Hebel Totems would not just look great would be a real wow factor in our play space. Then in years to come children can say

" I made that block with my family & kinder friends."

If you are interested in being involved in this project please talk to Michelle or our Committee President Millie

2021 threw us more Covid-19 curve balls. At least our rural kindergarten year consisted of face to face teaching more than we can say for schools. Apart from not being able to invite families into the kinder, having any incursions or excursions our other play experiences at kinder remained unchanged. We were lucky to enjoy the company of a fluctuating 19 children in our Kindergarten group and between 12 & 15 Minnows. We enjoyed exploring lots of play based experiences both indoors and out and also spending lots of time at our onsite wild-space and our off site bush kinder play space.

The production of our 2021 Luna Dragon parade costume is underway. We will let you know asap the date of our Welcome BBQ.  With Covid-19 restrictions easing hopefully we will squeeze it in before the end of term 1 2021.

Thank you to all the families that attended our Welcome BBQ 2020 Luna dragon parade. Big thanks to Sara, Jayden & Lucy who prepared and cooked our fantastic meal. Huge thanks to Lorne Foodworks for donating all the wonderful produce. Looking forward to a fantastic 2020.

2019 .

We celebrated the end of another fantastic year. The children spread some Christmas cheers to the residents at Lorne's aged care. Performed at Carols on the Lorne and then for their families, during  our Christmas concerts. The Kinder group preformed our mixed up version of  ' Three billy goats gruff ' In our story we had Elves & Reindeer crossing the 'Grinch Trolls' bridge for a gardening working bee. One the way back they gifted the Trolls with their favourite food the 'Honey suckers'. The trolls are now real 'Green Thumbs'. The Minnows group preformed our own version of 'Caps for Sale' by Esphyr Slobodkina. In our story the Peddler sold Santa caps. Both were great performances and the children let their creative talent shine. We also now officially Thanked Susannah Sprague & Beth Diviny with a Plaque to be erected in the garden. This plaque acknowledged all the work that has gone into developing our Wild Space nature play zone and our  Kitchen garden area. These areas will be an asset to the teachers, children and families  of Lorne form many years to come.
